These images are all from the South of Spain in Jerez de la Fontera: land of Flamenco, Toros Bravo, Sherry, and the PRE (Pura Raza Espagnole) horse.
Much like in Portugal, there is long cultural history and a great deal of pride attached to each of these traditions and breeding endeavors. I’m looking forward to a return visit to go deeper.
Update: I’ve just returned (October 2017) from leading a marvelous two week tour of the South of Spain and the South of France, linked because of their cultural similarities, with my dear friend, Arthur Meyerson. I loved revisiting Seville, discovering Cordoba, and reveling again in the Flamenco rhythms of Jerez de la Frontera. I’ll be returning to Andalusia in February, to photograph the almond blossoms and white villages of the region with renowned English landscape photographer, Charlie Waite. It’s going to be glorious!
