Layering Your Intent, The next step in The Photography of Intent
May 27 – 31, 2019
Join Keron Psillas, award-winning photographer and author, to discover and refine a deeper intent for your photography. With six books of photography published, Keron is creating a legacy of refined work with a passionate voice. 2019 will debut her fine press edition of Cavalo Lusitano: The Spirit Within, from Veritas Editions.
After teaching The Photography of Intent for 10 years, it is time to move to the next level. Layering Your Intent, my new 5 day intensive course, will bring all the principles discussed in the previous course to bear on a deeper discussion of our creative act.
With classroom instruction, discussion of images, daily critiques of new work, and capsules of information covering book creation, Lightroom developing, and daily work in the field, our week will be full to overflowing with inspiration and breakthrough. Each lecture is designed to encourage you to reach to the next level. Perhaps you want to exhibit…or create a book for a larger audience…fill in gaps of technical knowledge, or perhaps you simply (and importantly) want to deepen your ability to create expressive images. This class will support your intent.
Join me in one of my favorite places on earth, the PNWAS in Coupeville, to recharge your love affair with creative expression.
Note classroom hours: 10 am to 5:30 pm (but with flexibility) to allow us to shoot in the good light morning and evening!
We’ll have two field trips during the week (via carpool) and a celebratory final dinner on Friday night.
This workshop is open to all photographers with a working knowledge of their camera. If you wish to participate in image reviews, you will need to bring a laptop and a working knowledge of the digital workflow. This would include the ability to download your images to your laptop, make selections, and transfer images to your flash drive for projection from the class computer.
June 5 – 8, 2019
Join Keron Psillas, award-winning author and photographer to make your book ideas a reality!
Recipient of Best in Show for Photobook 2015, Keron brings her 20+ years in the printing industry and the experience of publishing and promoting six books, as well has her creative soul in photography to offer this inspirational and practical class.
This is such a great way to deepen our relationship to our photography. Making books demands that we look critically at our work, distill our message, learn the fine art of sequencing, and delve into supportive design.
We’ll look at favorite books (bring one of yours with you), we’ll discuss the merits of refined layout, and layout that supports your vision. We’ll talk about fonts and front matter and paper and bindings. Whether you want to create a travelogue, a poetic volume of images, or finish a long term project, a book can be either the final expression of your work or a path forward to exhibits and greater collaboration.
Join me to discuss all of these topics and more. We’ll learn the Blurb Bookwright software and get started making your vision a reality in book form!
Class size is limited to 6 to ensure that I can work with each student in a hands-on fashion when we are putting our books together.
Classroom hours: 9:30 to 4:30 each day with additional time for one on one instruction as needed.
Class on June 8 is a half-day wrap up from 9am to 1pm.
