Holland and Paris in 2016, April 24 through May 2 or May 5

ONLY TWO SPACES AVAILABLE!!!

Springtime in Holland and another three days in Paris….just for fun (and photography)? This is a wonderful opportunity to use all the energy of spring to reinvigorate your creative self! We’ll spend seven days in Holland among the tulips, canals, and the culture of Amsterdam. We will have critiques, personal instruction, and opportunities to learn techniques each day.

We will also explore the culture and history of Amsterdam by visiting the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh museum, street markets, cafes and restaurants. We’ll ride the tram together and visit Amsterdam at night for the lights on the canals and the swirling activity in the streets. Something for everyone, photographically!

Then…on to Paris. I lived in Paris in 2006 and am always anxious to revisit old haunts, see what has changed and what remains. Color and gardens and museums await. But we’ll be looking at the eternal city with new eyes. Making a portrait of Paris at this time will be a worthy challenge. Come along for three days and nights. We’ll whisk out of Amsterdam by the high-speed Thalys train and land in Paris 3 hours later after a comfortable journey.

Daily:

Depart US April 24, arrive April 25. You will be met at the airport and be driven to the hotel. We’ll have a welcome dinner and slideshow this night.

April 26 ~ The Keukenhof! with review and lecture this night.

April 27 ~ The gardens again to implement new techniques. Evening off.

April 28 ~ In to Amsterdam to visit museums, cafes, perhaps the Anne Frank house. Evening critiques and lecture.

April 29 ~ Out early for a tour of Holland to include the windmills, dunes, canals. Hoping for a misty morning! Lunch together en route, Evening off.

April 30 ~ Back to the Gardens to try those new techniques again and create our final poems of the Keukenhof. Evening critiques.

May 1 ~ Off to the Kroller Mueller museum today, a little-known place for American visitors. The sculpture garden is one of the world’s best and the collection of modern art is stunning. We’ll have the opportunity to create landscapes and study forms and shapes. Lunch at the museum as we choose, then back into Amsterdam for some night shooting along the canals. Option: trip to The Hague with its pedestrian malls and relaxed street shooting with plenty of hot chocolate and waffles. Back to hotel this night for final dinner in Holland.

May 2 ~ Departure for US or for Paris for those joining extended trip.

PARIS ADD-ON

May 2 ~ Arrive Paris, check-in to hotel, get acquainted walk in our neighborhood and dinner nearby.

May 3 ~ Options abound. This part of the trip is mostly self-guided, but if you like, I will give you my itinerary for each day and you can tag along (happily for me!) or you may strike out on your own! We’ll be very centrally located, so museums, Notre Dame, The Marais, The Tuileries are all within walking distance. We’ll meet for dinner this night.

May 4 ~ A free day…time for an excursion to Versailles or to explore another neighborhood in Paris. Perhaps the 7th Arrondissement and the Tour Eiffel? Tonight we’ll have a very touristy dinner aboard the Bateaux Mouche and see nighttime Paris from an entirely different perspective. It’s touristy, yes, but a lovely way to take in the city.

May 5 ~ Depart for US

All breakfasts are included, hotels are 4 star…safe, comfortable and convenient. There are two dinners and a lunch included in the Holland itinerary, and our Bateaux Mouche dinner in Paris. All internal travel is included in the cost of the trip. The first class high speed train ticket from Amsterdam to Paris is included. You are responsible for international airfare. I suggest flying into Amsterdam and out of Paris (Charles De Gaulle). All airport transfers are included.
